York Regional Police have charged a man with first-degree murder in connection with a 2023 homicide that took place in Vaughan, Ont.

At 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 1, 2023, police responded to a call about an injured person at a Laskin Drive residence near Ilan Ramon Boulevard, according to a York Regional Police news release on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, police say they found a deceased man inside the house with a significant head injury and deemed the death a homicide.

They identified the victim as Rakesh "Rick" Joshi, 50.

Earlier this month, police renewed their appeal for witnesses after releasing images of a suspect and a black Porsche 911 Turbo they said was related to the investigation.

Police have now charged a 51-year-old man with first-degree murder and recovered the black Porsche in question.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact police or send information anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
