Man charged in fatal stabbing at Etobicoke motel, police say

A 57-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a stabbing at an Etobicoke motel on the weekend, Toronto police say.
In a news release on Tuesday, police said the stabbing happened in a motel room in the area of The Queensway and Royal York Road on Sunday. Officers were called to the scene at about 9:20 a.m.
Police said they will release the victim's name once next of kin have been notified. The person is Toronto's 11th homicide victim of the year. Police said on Sunday that the victim was male.
In the release, police allege that the suspect and victim were in the motel room together when the suspect stabbed the victim.
Police arrested the suspect on the scene. Paramedics took the victim with life-threatening injuries to a trauma centre, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the accused, of no fixed address, was scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom on Sunday.
