1 person dead, another in custody following stabbing in Etobicoke

A person has died following a stabbing in Etobicoke Sunday morning, Toronto police say.

A person has died following a stabbing in Etobicoke Sunday morning, Toronto police say.

Insp. Todd Jocko said police and emergency personnel were called to the Queensway and Royal York Road area around 9:20 a.m.

When police arrived, they located a male victim with stab wounds and immediately started life-saving measures to try to save him, Jocko told reporters at the scene Sunday afternoon. 

He said life-saving measures were continued by paramedics who transported the victim to hospital, where he died.

Jocko said police have a male suspect in custody. He said there are no outstanding suspects and no ongoing threat to the community.

Toronto police's homicide unit has taken over the investigation,  Jocko said.
