RCMP say a suspect is in custody after a stabbing on Coach Road in Millbrook that left two people, a man and a woman, with serious injuries.

Police issued a public advisory on Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. warning residents in the area to expect a heavy police presence, including air services, as they searched for the suspect.

In an update sent about 30 minutes later, police said they'd apprehended the suspect.

Police said Thursday in a news release that the victims were a 64-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman from Truro.

RCMP said the suspect stabbed and robbed the man and then stabbed the woman before fleeing the scene in the male victim's SUV. The three people are known to one another, they said.

The suspect, a 40-year-old man, allegedly then robbed a gas station before police located the vehicle at Exit 10 on Highway 102 where it crashed into a ditch. The suspect was in possession of two knives at the time he was arrested, police said.

He is facing multiple charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault and robbery.
