An outstanding suspect was arrested over the weekend in relation to a fatal stabbing in Brantford, Ont., police say.

Around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a residence on Charlotte Street where they found one man suffering from stab wounds, who died "a short time later," Brantford police said in a news release.

Police said Thursday they arrested and charged one man with crimes including accessory after the fact to murder. They were also searching for a 27-year-old man for second-degree murder.

On Friday at 10:12 p.m., officers arrested the 27-year-old "following a brief foot pursuit," in the area of Queen Street and Darling Street, police said. He was charged with second-degree murder, breaching of a probation order and possession of crystal meth, police said.

Police said last week the victim knew his attackers and this is not believed to be a random incident.

Brantford police say they continue to investigate.
