A 49-year-old woman has died and three people were injured after a residential fire in Brantford, Ont., police said.

A 49-year-old woman has died and three people were injured after a residential fire in Brantford, Ont., police said.

Brantford police said Monday evening they're investigating the fire as a criminal incident alongside the Office of the Fire Marshall.

According to police, at around 7:45 a.m. on Monday, emergency services responded to a residential fire at a Buchanan Crescent home.

At around 11 a.m. that morning, Brantford police posted to X they were assisting the local fire department at a residential fire on the same street.

The woman, who police said resided in the home, was transported to hospital and later died.

"Three other adults were present in the home at the time of the fire and were transported to hospital for treatment," police said. The extent of their injuries is not known.
