Man, 56, charged with 2nd-degree murder in homicide of Garden Hill First Nation man

A 56-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a Garden Hill First Nation man in Winnipeg in early April.

A 56-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a Garden Hill First Nation man in Winnipeg in early April.

Brenton Sean Paul Harper, 30, was found in the early morning hours of April 1 after Winnipeg police responded to reports of shots fired on Agnes Street near Ellice Avenue.

Harper, who lived in Winnipeg, was rushed to hospital in critical condition with a shooting injury. He died in hospital, police previously said. 

Police arrested Chris Erickson, 56, in connection with the death, police said in a news release Friday.

He was arrested Tuesday at a parking lot on Rothesay Street, north of McLeod Avenue, and is being held in custody.
