Weekend stabbings send 2 wounded men to hospital: Winnipeg police
Officers believe group assaulted man on Portage Avenue, while other victim was stabbed on Maryland Street

Two men in their 20s with multiple wounds have undergone surgery after a pair of separate stabbings in and around central Winnipeg since Friday night.
The most recent incident happened around 4 a.m. Sunday, when officers were dispatched an apartment complex on Young Street, south of Broadway, after receiving reports an adult had been stabbed.
At the residence, officers found a 28-year-old man with multiple injuries in his upper body resulting from a stabbing, police said in a news release Sunday afternoon.
Officers provided emergency medical care to the man including the use of a chest seal. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, police said, and underwent emergency surgery.
Police said they believe a group of suspects approached the man on Portage Avenue west of Young Street, where they assaulted him with an edged weapon.
Police said the suspects fled from the scene, but nothing was stolen from the victim.
Officers are also investigating a separate stabbing that happened in Winnipeg's Daniel McIntyre area.
Police were called to the scene of a commercial business on Maryland Street, between Wellington and Notre Dame Avenues, around 8:30 p.m. on Friday after a man had been stabbed.
Officers provided emergency medical treatment to a 23-year-old man, including the use of multiple chest seals and a tourniquet, a release said on Sunday.
The victim was rushed to hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable following surgery, police said.
The major crimes unit continues to investigate both incidents, and they ask anyone with information regarding either incident to call police at 204-986-6219 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-8477 or winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
