Man charged in 4 sex assaults

An 18-year-old man has been charged with four counts of sexual assault in connection with a series of incidents in which women in Winnipeg were groped by a man on a bicycle.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with four counts of sexual assault in connection with a series of incidents in which women in Winnipeg were groped by a man.

Three of those incidents this week when the man rode past the women on a bicycle.

The first incident happened May 13 near Kildonan Place shopping centre in the Transcona neighbourhood.

A man walked up to a woman in the area of Stapon Road and Reenders Drive and grabbed her from behind. The woman was able to fight him off, prompting the man to run away.

The next assault happened June 22  at Ness Avenue and Sackville Street in the St. James neighbourhood. A woman was jogging when she was groped from behind by someone on a bicycle.

Then on June 23 a woman was walking near Winnipeg's Wellington Crescent when she noticed someone on a bicycle slowly following her.

She continued to walk in the area of Harrow Street and Academy Road when the person on the bike groped her in the lower body then rode off, police said.

On June 24, a fourth woman was grabbed while she was in the Wolseley neighbourhood, near Wolseley Avenue and Camden Place.

Curtis Leroy George, 18, was arrested in Wolseley and charged.

He is in custody at the Provincial Remand Centre.
