Woman sexually assaulted near mall

A 28-year-old woman was sexually and physically assaulted near the Kildonan Place shopping centre in Winnipeg's Transcona neighbourhood.

According to police, the woman was walking in the area of Stapon Road and Reenders Drive around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her from behind and groped her.

The woman was able to fight him off, prompting the man to run away.

The victim was injured, but not seriously.

The suspect is described as a male in his late 20s, about 5-foot-6 with an average build, dark hair and a slight moustache.

He was wearing a black shirt, black pants and white baseball cap.
