A 33-year-old Winnipeg man is facing an assault charge involving a weapon after a man was stabbed in the downtown area.
Police officers were called to Princess Street between Logan and Higgins Avenues for a report of a stabbing on Saturday at 11:30 p.m., a news release said on Sunday.
When police arrived, they found a 42-year-old man suffering from a serious upper-body injury and provided emergency medical treatment.
Police learned the victim and the accused, who did not previously know each other, got into a verbal fight that escalated physically, the release said. Police say the accused pulled out a sharp edged weapon and stabbed the victim.
