Sarnia tractor trailer crash sends 2 to hospital, closes Highway 402

Ontario Provincial Police say two people have been taken to hospital after a collision between two tractor trailers Wednesday morning in Sarnia.

It happened early Wednesday morning

Ontario Provincial Police say there were at least five collisions through the day Saturday in the London region involving their vehicles being struck from behind by motorists who ignored road closed signs.

Ontario Provincial Police say two people have been taken to hospital after a collision between two tractor trailers Wednesday morning in Sarnia.

It happened on Highway 402 westbound, shortly after 3 a.m., according to OPP.

Police say westbound lanes remain closed between Indian Road and Christina Street. Eastbound lanes are also closed between Indian Road and Front Street.

"These closures are expected to remain closed for several hours to facilitate the removal of vehicles and cleanup," OPP added in a news release.

Police expect the highway to be closed for several hours and are asking drivers to use an alternate route. 

One of the truck drivers taken to hospital has serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The other sustained minor injuries.
