Sarnia police say a 14-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted in the Ontario border city's downtown core.
They say it happened Sunday night while she was walking — and that she was threatened with a knife and led to a secluded area where the alleged assault took place.
According to police, the accused is a 47-year-old man who the victim had previous "minor" and "informal" interactions with.
"Although there was some reported previous interaction, the male would be considered a stranger," police said in a Wednesday online statement.
The accused was located and arrested based on a description given by the girl.
He is charged with the following seven offences:
-
Forcible confinement.
-
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
-
Sexual assault with a weapon.
-
Invitation to sexual touching.
-
Uttering threats to cause death.
-
