A man has been been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting and forcibly confining a 14-year-old girl in Ajax over several days, Durham police say
Officers began investigating on Wednesday after receiving information from Hamilton police, Durham police said in a news release Saturday.
The accused picked up the victim in Hamilton and drove her to Ajax, where she was confined and assaulted "over a period of days," the release said.
Police say the victim and accused knew each other through a mutual connection.
A 30-year-old man from Ajax has been charged with five counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference. He has also been charged with forcible confinement, uttering threats, assault, and two counts of overcoming resistance to commit an offence.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing, police said.
