Elderly pedestrian struck and killed near his hometown of Thamesville, Ont.

Police are investigating after an elderly pedestrian died in a crash along Longwoods Road in Chatham-Kent.

The female driver, from the same Chatham-Kent community, wasn't injured

Police say one person is dead after a collision near the community of Thamesville in Chatham-Kent, Ont.

The 86-year-old man who died was a pedestrian from Thamesville, according to authorities.

The incident took place around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday along Longwoods Road near Huffs Side Road and Dew Drop Road.

The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

A 20-year-old woman was driving the vehicle involved, police say. She wasn't injured and was also from Thamesville.

Authorities say there's no word yet on what led to the crash or if charges are possible.
