For months, the same cinema in Richmond Hill was hit with bullets. After a lengthy investigation, York Regional Police say they've arrested three teen suspects. As Ali Chiasson reports, they've also been linked to numerous other crimes throughout the region.

Three teenagers are facing a total of 109 charges after a series of incidents in the GTA this year, including shootings at a Richmond Hill cinema and elementary school.

York police said three separate shootings were reported at a cinema near East Beaver Creek and Highway 7 in May.

A fourth shooting happened at the same cinema in June.

"In all four incidents, there were no injuries, despite the cinema operating with patrons inside," police said in a news release Thursday.

Then at the end of June, an elementary school near 16th Avenue and Bayview Avenue was shot at overnight with no injuries reported, police said.

Police say investigators connected the three teenage boys to the shootings, as well as several other incidents in the GTA — including threats of violence, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assaults and thefts.

These incidents happened in Richmond Hill, Markham and Whitchurch-Stouffville, according to the release.

Two of the boys, a 15-year-old from Oshawa and a 15-year-old from Toronto, were out on separate release orders at the time of the incidents.

The third boy, a 16-year-old from Whitchurch-Stouffville, had breached conditions of his Youth Criminal Justice Act sentencing, the release said.
