Garth Brooks buys 100 bouquets for Gordie Howe statue

The statue of Gordie Howe at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon is quickly becoming a focal point as hockey fans note the death of the hockey legend. Entertainer Garth Brooks, who is performing at the arena, bought 100 bouquets to add to the flowers already placed since Howe's death on Friday.

On Saturday, prior to his second night of back-to-back concerts at SaskTel Centre, a handful of workers on behalf of Brooks went to the Costco Wholesale store near the arena to get the bundles of flowers.

As ticketholders for Saturday's early show made their way into the arena, they passed the Gordie Howe statue, which is on the steps of SaskTel Centre.

At the Friday night show, Brooks performed wearing a Detroit Red Wings jersey with Howe's name and number on the back.
