Gordie Howe's funeral will be open to the public

Details of Mr. Hockey's funeral have been released. The ceremonies will take place in Detroit.

Details for Gordie Howe's funeral have been finalized. 

The funeral and visitation for the renowned hockey player will take place in Detroit.

On Tuesday, the visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Joe Louis Arena.

The rink is home to the NHL Detroit Red Wings. 

Howe's funeral will be held on Wednesday at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Both the funeral and the visitation will be open to the public.  

Howe, also known as Mr. Hockey, will be cremated. His wife, Colleen, was also cremated when she died in 2009. 

The famed athlete died on Friday at 88 years old.
