Person found dead after fire at Saskatoon residence

The Saskatoon Fire Department says a person died in a fire early Sunday morning. The Saskatoon Police Service reported a structure fire to the department shortly after 3 a.m. in the 2200 Block of 20th Street West.

The Saskatoon Fire Department says a person died in a fire early Sunday morning.

The Saskatoon Police Service reported a structure fire to the department shortly after 3 a.m. in the 2200 block of 20th Street West.

A fire crew arrived around five minutes later, and reported heavy smoke coming the main floor of a single-family bungalow. There were flames in the basement.

The Saskatoon Fire Department says the blaze was under control minutes before 4:30 a.m.

One occupant was home at the time of the fire and was found deceased.

As of 10:30 a.m., fire investigators are on scene and have begun an investigation into how the fire started.
