Saskatchewan RCMP is continuing to investigate three stabbing incidents on Big River First Nation.
The stabbings were first reported late Saturday afternoon. Between approximately 3:50 p.m. and 4:20 p.m., Big River RCMP received reports of three separate stabbing incidents at three difference residences, each with a single victim.
While police were responding to the third stabbing incident, they received a report of an attempted robbery in the Victoire, Sask., area, approximately 100 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.
They determined that an unknown suspect threatened a driver with a machete, before fleeing on foot after failing to steal the vehicle.
The RCMP said the first two victims, a male and a female, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The third victim was transported to hospital by a Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) helicopter.
Investigators are still working to determine if these incidents are random in nature.
Saskatchewan RCMP initially stated that the suspects were two males — 19-year-old Kenneth Joseph and 29-year-old Ryan Lachance. They have now reduced their search to only Lachance.
Lachance is about five feet six inches tall and 150 pounds, with a teardrop tattoo under his left eye. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black hoodie with a white logo.
Lachance is also wanted by Big River RCMP in relation to an unrelated aggravated assault from November 2024.
The last confirmed sighting of Lachance was around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Victoire, Sask., area.
Lachance may be driving a black KIA, license plate 649 NPP, or a grey BMW SUV.
Saskatchewan RCMP say Lachance is considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached. If spotted, police urge the public to dial 911, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
