RCMP investigating shots fired in Grand Falls-Windsor

The RCMP are investigating what they believe was a "targeted incident of shots fired" near Sulva Road in Grand Falls-Windsor. An update at 10:20 p.m. lifted an emergency alert.

The RCMP are investigating what they believe was a "targeted incident of shots fired" near Suvla Road in Grand Falls-Windsor.

An emergency alert was issued to mobile devices Friday night warning residents of an active shooter in the areas of Lincoln Road, Scott Avenue, Goodyear Avenue and Riverview Road.

An update at 9:25 p.m. lifted the shelter-in-place warning.

Police took to social media again at 10:20 p.m. to cancel the emergency alert.

A heavy police presence remains in the area. 

Police are urging people to call the Grand Falls-Windsor detachment at 709-489-2121 with any information or sightings of a male suspect. Police say a suspect was last seen with a firearm on Suvla Road Friday night. 

No injuries have been reported.
