Cellmate charged with killing Brandon Correctional Centre inmate

A man accused of killing another inmate at Brandon Correctional Centre in December is set to appear in a Manitoba court Tuesday on a first-degree murder charge.

23-year-old repeatedly kicked, punched before dying of injuries, police say

A man accused of killing another inmate at the Brandon Correctional Centre in December is set to appear in a Manitoba court Tuesday on a first-degree murder charge. 

On Dec. 29, police in Brandon received a call from the medium-security facility, reporting that an inmate had been assaulted.

The victim was repeatedly punched and kicked by his 27-year-old cellmate, police allege. 

The 23-year-old was taken to hospital and died of his injuries.
