Grand River Transit has announced a three per cent hike for riders including monthly adult users, seniors and students starting this Sunday.

Region of Waterloo Director of Transit Peter Zinck said the across-the-board increase was made to offset the cost of operating services and provide new services, specifically in Cambridge.

"One of the main implementations we're doing in Cambridge is route 206, a new iXpress route," said Zinck.

"[It] will connect the south Galt area to Fairway station in Kitchener. That'll be a 15 minute service for much of the bulk of the day. And then 15 minutes [non-rush hour] and on weekends.
