The Guelph Humane Society has removed 80 cats from one home and expects costs to care for them to be thousands of dollars.

The humane society says the cats were removed from the home on Wednesday after making a decision "to help these cats by taking them in."

The humane society started work on Wednesday to give all the cats wellness checks and vaccines. It will house them either at their facility or with foster families.

All the cats will also undergo a spay or neuter procedure in the near future.

The humane society is asking for donations as it's expected it will cost $20,000 at a minimum to care for the cats.
