Homestretch Brunch Club: Quiche and Parmentier at Parc Café

This summer the Homestretch is doing brunch. Mission's Suzette Bistro specializes in cuisine inspired by the North of France, using local and seasonal ingredients.

This summer the Homestretch is doing brunch. On alternating Thursdays throughout July and August, Calgary bloggers Jen Li and Bonnie Huang will join Doug Dirks with a report on Cowtown's brunch scene.

The Parc Café and Brasserie offers a taste of France in the heart of lower Mount Royal.

Jen Li says she's been to Parc many times for dinner, but never for brunch — until now. Their patio is ideal for sunny summer days.

Parc's menu offers multiple courses including aperitifs, hors d'oeuvres, soups and salads along with more substantial brunch fare.

Some of the standard brunch mains include multiple variations of eggs benedict, french toast (of course!), quiche and croque madame.

For more adventurous eaters, there's seared steelhead trout, parmentier (France's take on shepherds' pie) and The Parc Burger, to which you can add double smoked bacon, wild mushrooms, comte cheese and even foie gras.

Parc does take reservations over the phone or online. For brunch groups of eight people or more, Parc adds a gratuity of 18 per cent and offers only one bill.
