Annie Thompson is no stranger to Canada's fashion circuit — her eco-conscious imprint has been in operation for over 35 years. These efforts were further recognized in 2017 as Thompson was presented with the Vanguard of the Year award, rewarding her contribution to design and sustainability in fashion.
Thompson's latest 'Black Box' collection delves into the juxtaposition of sound and sculpture, form and movement. The pieces are built with an aesthetic that honours comfort and durability, and again brings sustainability to the street style. CBC Life got a first peek at the new looks for the fall/winter season.
From bomber jackets to jumpers, trim trousers to camo-inspired prints, Thompson's urban-meets-utilitarian fashions are entirely sourced in Canada and built with recycled and up-cycled fabrics. They're also fun, functional and gender fluid, and incorporate a Thompson signature feature: pockets. (Yaaaaas!)
