If 90s style trends are back, and they are, we may as well bring back the icons that elevated the aesthetic. This, it seems, was Donatella Versace's brainchild on Friday, when she brought back the women that defined fashion almost three decades ago when her brother Gianni Versace lead the brand to worldwide renown. A parade of magnificence we haven't seen since the 90s featured some of the most recognizable supermodels to ever grace the catwalk. The entire collection and showstopper finale were designed to honour the 20th anniversary of her late brother Gianni Versace's death, which resulted in Donatella taking over the fashion house in 1997.

With George Michael's 90s anthem "Freedom" playing loud and proud, history repeated itself as runway royalty Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni and Helena Christensen all stormed the catwalk in a fierce en masse strut. But not before Donatella announced "This is for you Gianni." The incredible women, goddess-like in gold gowns, looked categorically larger than life as they followed Versace down the runway to ecstatic applause.

The greats, as devastatingly stunning as ever, joined today's style starlets Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Candice Swanepoel, and Anja Rubik. Kaia Gerber, Crawford's daughter, was also on stage with the newer blood. The mood: palpably inclusive and exceptionally celebratory.

The stunt put a jaw dropping bow on Versace's Spring 2018 showcase at Milan fashion week.
