Rugged Boston Bruins winger Milan Lucic underwent successful surgery over the weekend to repair his broken right index finger.
Lucic was injured during Friday's 3-0 win over Dallas when he threw a hit on Stephane Robidas in the corner.
He had the surgery Sunday but the Bruins did not offer a timetable for his recovery in a release.
They did place Lucic on long-term injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 16, meaning he'll miss at least 10 games and 24 days.
The 21-year-old, invited to Canada's Olympic orientation camp over the summer, has three assists in six games this season.
The Bruins recently signed him to a three-year extension worth US$12.25 million.
