Satirical novelist Sam Lipsyte turns his eye to the worlds of mindfulness and American gurus in his new book, Hark.

It tells the tale of a wellness guru named Hark Morner who creates a messianic movement called "Mental Archery," which he promises will deliver a newfound focus to his followers. It's a brilliant send-up of the idea of spiritual leaders, the people who follow them and the situations in which they appear so compelling.

Lipsyte joined guest host Laurie Brown from New York to take us deeper into his latest novel.
