Ashley McBryde spent years playing dive bars and honky tonks in Nashville, paying her dues to try and make it in the music business. After plenty of perseverance, time and hard work, it's all finally starting to pay off. McBryde's debut album Girl Goin' Nowhere scored her a Grammy nomination for country album of the year.

Today, she drops by the q studio to perform some live music and chat with guest host Laurie Brown about some of the challenges she experienced on her journey.

McBryde will be performing in Oshawa, Ont. tonight before heading out to Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge, Alta. later this month.
