Mario Roy: the farmer and economist seeking Quebec Liberal leadership
With a federal election looming and Donald Trump’s tariffs making waves, the Quebec Liberal Party is in the midst of a leadership race. Five candidates are vying for the top spot, and one of them is Mario Roy. At 31, Roy brings a unique perspective to the race. A farmer from the Beauce and the seventh of nine siblings, he took over his family’s farm at just 23. Now, as an agricultural economist and master’s student at McGill University, he hopes to bring fresh ideas to the party’s leadership.
