Every word he wrote: Sting's lyrics to hit bookstores
A collection of Sting's lyrics is set to hit bookstores this fall, while the British singer-songwriter and instrumentalist is in the midst of his reunion tourwith blockbuster band the Police.
The simply titled Lyrics by Sting will feature the words from his solo compositions as well as Police hits such as Roxanne and Every Breath You Take. Alongside, the book will feature Sting's commentary about his music.
"Over time, the meaning of a song can continue to reveal itself," Sting said in a statement Monday.
"In putting this book together, I have relished the opportunity to revisit my songs, the times in which they were written and pay tribute to those with whom I've shared my creative life."
Lyrics by Sting will be published by The Dial Press, the Bantam Dell imprint that also published his autobiography Broken Music.
Sting, born Gordon Sumner, and Police bandmembers Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland, became one of the top pop acts of the 1980s, but broke up at the height of their careers in 1986.
Though all three pursued solo projects, Sting found the most success with his world-beat, classical and jazz-tinged pop-rock music.
After more than 20 years apart, the band reunited on stage at the Grammys in February and subsequently announced a globe-trotting reunion tour, set to begin May 28 in Vancouver.
