2 men charged with sexual assault of minor, Windsor police say
Police say girl, 17, was assaulted on Tuesday
Two men have been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a minor, Windsor police say.
In a news release on Friday, police say members of the major crimes unit launched an investigation on Tuesday after receiving a report that a 17-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by two men earlier that day.
According to the release, investigators learned that the teen had agreed to meet with a man that had recently befriended her on social media.
The teen and a group of her friends were picked up by a group of three unknown males and driven to a house, police say. Once there, two of the men allegedly locked her in a bedroom and forced her to perform sexual acts.
Later that same day, officers located and arrested a suspect, police say, while a second suspect turned himself in at Windsor police headquarters the following morning. The men have each been charged with forcible confinement and sexual assault.
Windsor police are reminding the community that individuals can use digital platforms to target unsuspecting community members, often causing financial and personal harm.
Officers caution against sharing personal information or arranging in-person meetings with unknown people.
