Teen charged with 1st-degree murder in Riverdale double homicide

A 17-year-old teen has been charged with first-degree murder nearly three weeks after two people were fatally shot in Toronto’s Riverdale neighbourhood.

Quentin Caza, 18, and Jeremy McNeil, 20, were shot and killed in the city’s east end last month

Two headshots, side by side, show the faces of an 18-year-old white boy with a blue Dodgers ball cap with slight facial hair, and a 20-year-old white boy with a reddish-brownish beard and short hair of the same colour, against a white backdrop.

A 17-year-old teen has been charged with first-degree murder nearly three weeks after two people were fatally shot in Toronto's Riverdale neighbourhood.

Quentin Caza, 18, and Jeremy McNeil, 20, both of Toronto, were shot near Bain and Logan avenues in Toronto's Riverdale neighbourhood around 11 p.m. on April 15, police previously said in a news release.

Officers found the men suffering from gunshot wounds when they responded to reports of gunfire in the area that night. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital, where he later died.

At the time of the shooting, police said there was evidence of clustered gunshots found at the scene, suggesting the shooting was targeted.

On Saturday, a 17-year-old youth was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting, police said in a news release.

They appeared in court via video link at Toronto Regional Bail Centre the same day, police said.
