Man charged after fatal November hit-and-run in Scarborough

A 45-year-old man has been charged after a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run in Scarborough in November, police said. The crash happened around 11:50 p.m. on Nov. 21 near Kennedy Road and McNicoll Avenue.

A 45-year-old man has been charged after a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run in Scarborough in November, police said. 

The crash happened around 11:50 p.m. on Nov. 21, 2024 near Kennedy Road and McNicoll Avenue, Toronto police said in a news release Friday. 

A 71-year-old man was crossing the road when he was struck by a driver in a Cadillac Escalade. The driver fled the scene. 

The pedestrian was taken to hospital, where he died three days later. Police released video of the suspect vehicle in November. 

Police arrested the accused on Thursday, the release said. He has been charged with dangerous operation causing death and careless driving causing death. 

He has also been charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident, the release said. 

The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.
