An elderly couple in Coniston were victims of a home invasion Monday night, and Sudbury police are still searching for the suspects.

Sudbury police said the incident happened shortly after 9 p.m., when the couple, in their 80s, heard a knock at the door of their Walter Street home.

The woman thought the person at the door was someone she knew — but it wasn't.

When she let the man in, police said he cut the phone lines with a knife, and said, "I have a knife, and I want your money."

The woman was able to escape to the neighbours, where she called police.

The suspect, who was wearing a hoodie and glasses to hide his identity, fled the scene.

The couple was taken to hospital for minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police.
