A 27-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of missing Prince Albert man Troy Cecil Napope.
Napope, 23, was last seen at a party in Prince Albert in May 2015. He was reported missing on June 6, nine days after the car he was using had been found burning in a grove of trees on Whitfield Road.
Soon after, RCMP and Prince Albert police began treating his disappearance as a homicide, despite not having found Napope or his remains.
RCMP said their investigation has determined the offence happened on May 28, 2015, which is consistent with when Napope was last seen by his friends.
The accused, a Prince Albert man, was taken into custody and appeared in court Monday morning.
