RCMP say the search for a man who went missing at a lake northeast of Halifax has been called off.

The search ended Saturday evening after all options were exhausted, according to police.

Two men were riding in a four-metre boat at Cousins Lake on Thursday. The boat struck something in the water and capsized.

A 58-year-old man from Truro has not been found. A 50-year-old man managed to swim to shore and call for help. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP, along with ground search and rescue crews, combed the area. RCMP Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay said conditions were difficult.

"We're talking about frigid water temperatures at this time of year and last night the temperatures were also below zero, so certainly challenging weather for anyone that would have been outdoors," Tremblay said.
