Fire truck driver under investigation after incident with male who died after snowmobile crash
Name, age, home community of snowmobiler not released
The Municipality of Cumberland says RCMP are investigating after an incident involving a volunteer fire department that was responding to a call about a snowmobile crash in which the snowmobile driver died.
In a news release issued Sunday, the municipality said the crash happened late Friday in Poison Lake, N.S.
It's unclear how old the snowmobile driver was, where he was from or his name.
The municipality said the Collingwood Volunteer Fire Department and other first responders went to the scene to assist.
It said something happened with the fire truck at scene, which is being investigated by RCMP.
RCMP did not immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday.
A person who answered the phone at the fire hall would not identify themselves and declined comment Sunday.
Cause of death unclear
It's unclear whether the individual died solely because of the snowmobile crash or because of factors related to the incident involving the truck.
The municipality said the driver of the fire truck has stepped aside from all fire department duties, pending the outcome of the RCMP investigation.
The municipality said it not making any further comment about the case.
