Halifax acupuncturist sentenced for sexual assault
Xiao Han Li was charged in 2019 after a woman contacted police
A Halifax acupuncturist has been sentenced to six months in jail for sexual assault.
The sentence was handed down Tuesday morning in provincial court in Halifax. Xiao Han Li, 36, must also serve 12 months on probation and pay $1,754 in restitution.
Li was charged in 2019 after a woman contacted police to say she had been sexually assaulted at the Qing Li Chinese Therapy Clinic on Dresden Row in Halifax where Li worked.
Subsequently, three other women also accused Li of sexual assault.
Li was convicted on another charge of sexual assault in 2023. He received a conditional discharge and three years probation at that time.
He was acquitted of another sexual assault charge in March 2024.
A number of charges involving a different complainant were withdrawn.
