A Halifax-area massage therapist has been charged with sexual assault following a complaint lodged late last year.

Halifax Regional Police received a report on Dec. 9, 2024, of an alleged assault that occurred during a massage at a Lacewood Drive property in the Clayton Park area, said a news release from police.

Sergii Kozub, 43, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on April 14.

The executive director of the Massage Therapists' Association of Nova Scotia confirmed Thursday that Kozub is a member of the organization.

Emily Roeding said Kozub's membership has been suspended pending the outcome of the association's internal investigation.
