Yellowknife RCMP say a woman has been charged after a stabbing in the area of Sunridge Apartments on Friday.

"Officers attended the scene and confirmed a person had been assaulted with a weapon, after which the assailant had fled in a vehicle," a Tuesday news release said.

"Officers located the vehicle a short time later and arrested several suspects believed to be involved in the assault."

Only one person was charged, according to RCMP. A 40-year-old Yellowknife woman has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and obstructing a peace officer.

RCMP did not provide any details on the victim's condition.

The woman, who RCMP did not name, was released and is expected to appear in court on Oct. 29.

RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and they believe there are witnesses to the assault who have not come forward. They've asked anyone with information to contact Yellowknife RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
