Whitehorse's Ramada Inn sold for $8.2M, to rebrand as Days Inn
The Ramada Inn in Whitehorse was sold to Holloway Lodging last week and will now operate as a Days Inn.
New signs are expected to arrive in a few weeks.
Holloway Lodging also owns the Yellowknife Inn and the Super 8 Motel in Yellowknife.
Amr Awad, vice president of Holloway Lodging for Western Canada, says the timing and the price was right.
"The cost of the hotel was at a purchase price of $8.2 million so we consider it at a reasonable price," he said.
"We will retain 100 per cent of the employees. It's a new addition, it's a new province for us and basically will diversify our business and our statement in secondary Canadian markets."
The hotel is expected to remain open year-round and all of the attached businesses will remain in operation.
Prior to being purchased by the Ramada chain three years ago, the hotel was run seasonally by Holland America as the Westmark Klondike Inn.
The 99-room hotel was built in 1972, with additions in 1976 and 1988.
