Sandy Silver officially accepts Yukon Liberal leadership

Yukon Liberal leader Sandy Silver gave his leadership acceptance speech to a packed room at the Gold Rush Inn in Whitehorse Saturday.

Silver, MLA for Klondike, won the leadership job by acclamation earlier this year. He remains the only Liberal sitting in the Yukon legislature.

He says he was surprised at the turnout.

"We were blown away by the new faces, young and old that showed up," he said. "I was introduced to so many new people that haven't been to previous events, that have a desire to volunteer."

Silver says the party will work to strengthen individual riding associations as it moves towards the next territorial election.
