CBC North will lose another five jobs in the latest round of cuts at the CBC network.

A total of 144 jobs will be cut from local news operations across the country as part of a corporation-wide strategy to deal with budget shortfalls.

CBC North managing director Janice Stein says no radio programs will be eliminated due to the cuts.

It was announced in December that CBC North's supper-hour television newscast Northbeat will be reduced to 30 minutes from one hour. That change will take effect later this year.

In December, CBC North eliminated regional radio newscasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Last April CBC North cancelled its Late Night television newscast and lost six positions due to budget cuts.
