Owed to Newfoundland: St. John's band Two Guitars Clash takes on local politics
First Listen: St. John's band combines current events and power chords
Two Guitars Clash has always been a band that's been politically aware, says guitarist and vocalist Doug Rowe.
The band's third release, Radio Rebelde, contains songs which deal with issues facing Newfoundland and Labrador.
"Right now I'm trying to direct my attention to things happening at home," said Rowe.
Rowe said the band is thinking about the local economy, and how the province might take better control of its natural resources.
One of the songs on Radio Rebelde has been particularly relevant, Rowe told Weekend A.M.
"Owed to Newfoundland has taken on a life it its own with all the protests going on around town," said Rowe.
"It's become sort of an anthem."
