A St. John's man who dyed his hair pink to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation raised more than $7,000 before shaving it all off Friday.

Adam Keetch and his sons, four-year-old Elijah and Isaac, 15, went "pretty in pink" for a month-long fundraiser, and to raise awareness of cancer.

For Keetch, it was personal.

"My wife had a scare last year and we were extremely lucky that she doesn't have breast cancer," he said.

"But one in nine Canadian women are not that lucky, and we're trying to change that.

The fuchsia locks hit the floor on Friday, as Keetch had it all shaved off, by cancer survivor Beverley Kelly.

Melissa Snow of Salon 1 in Paradise wanted to be part of it, so she dyed Keetch's hair and hosted the shaving party.

Afterwards, the Keetch family showed off a cheque for $7,305.

Isaac Keetch is keeping his hair pink, for now.  A student at Prince of Wales Collegiate, he said the hair colour is getting lots of attention.
