Gas jumps over 4 cents across Newfoundland, 5 cents in parts of Labrador

The price of most fuels are up across most of Newfoundland and Labrador on Friday.

The price of most fuels are up across most of Newfoundland and Labrador Friday.

The Public Utilities Board raised the price of gasoline by 4.1 cents per litre across Newfoundland. The change puts the maximum price of gas at $1.72 per litre on the Avalon Peninsula, and between $1.72 and $1.87 per litre across the rest of Newfoundland — depending on your location.

The price of diesel increased by 2.9 cents per litre across Newfoundland, putting maximum prices between $1.94 and $2.07 per litre on the island.

Furnace oil increased by just under 2.5 cents per litre, meaning customers will pay maximum prices between $1.27 and $1.47 per litre depending on location.

Labrador

Gas prices fluctuations vary across Labrador depending on location as retail markups continue across the region's pricing zones.

Prices in Labrador West and Churchill Falls increased by 5.3 cents a litre. The rest of Labrador's pricing zones saw an increase of 1.1 cents per litre — except on the north and south coasts, which saw no change in pricing.

That means fuel prices across Labrador now range between $1.75 and $2.02 per litre.

Other fuels also saw fluctuations for different pricing zones. Diesel increased by 1.2 cents per litre across much of Labrador, but by four cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. Maximum prices now range between $1.83 and $2.12 per litre in Labrador.

Most Labrador pricing zones saw an increase in the price of stove oil of one cent per litre, while Labrador West and Churchill Falls saw a 3.5 cent per litre increase. That means maximum prices for the fuel now range between $1.21 and $1.53 per litre.

Propane was the lone fuel to decrease in price across the entire province — down 0.9 cents per litre in Newfoundland and one cent per litre in Labrador.

Prices for propane now range between $1.12 and $1.26 per litre in Newfoundland and between 98 cents and $1.22 per litre in Labrador.
