Gas prices fluctuate across Labrador following PUB pricing review
Gas up 2.3 cents in Newfoundland as price adjustments move to Friday

The price of most fuels saw fluctuations across Labrador following the Public Utilities Board's review of fuel pricing in the region Friday, while Newfoundland is seeing a small increase in gas prices.
The PUB submitted its Labrador pricing review to the provincial government last week, which brought changes to price markups and pricing zone differentials along with the creation of a new pricing zone in Cartwright.
Markups for gasoline, diesel and stove oil saw decreases, but some regions saw an increase in price when accounting for market changes.
Across Labrador, Friday's price changes for gas are as follows:
- A 2.8 cent per litre increase in Labrador West and Churchill Falls.
- A 0.6 cent per litre increase from the Straits to Red Bay (Pricing Zone 10), Lodge Bay and Pinsent's Arm (Zone 11), the south coast (Zone 11A), central Labrador (Zone 12) and the north coast (Zone 14).
- A 16.5 cent per litre decrease in Cartwright.
Friday's price adjustments mean gas prices now range between $1.70 and $2.01 per litre depending on your location in Labrador.
Additionally, the price of diesel and stove oil also fluctuated.
Diesel prices decreased by 0.6 cents per litre in zones 10, 11, 11A, 12 and 14, while decreasing by 14.5 cents per litre in Cartwright and by three cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. Prices for the fuel now range between $1.94 and $2.11 per litre across Labrador.
The price of stove oil increased by 0.5 cents per litre in zones 10, 11, 11A, 12 and 14, while decreasing by over 3.2 cents in Labrador West and Churchill Falls and by 18.32 cents per litre in Cartwright. The adjustment means maximum prices now range between $1.20 and $1.52 per litre across Labrador.
Newfoundland drivers see two-cent increase
In Newfoundland, the price of gas rose by 2.3 cents per litre Friday. Price adjustments used to happen on Thursdays, but the PUB will make adjustments on Fridays moving forward.
The adjustment puts maximum prices on the Avalon Peninsula at just under $1.68 per litre. Elsewhere in Newfoundland, prices range between $1.68 and $1.83 per litre.
The price of diesel decreased by 3.5 cents per litre, meaning maximum prices now range between $1.92 and $2.05 per litre across the island.

Furnace oil also decreased by over three cents per litre. Customers will pay maximum prices between $1.25 and $1.45 per litre depending on location.
The price of propane saw a decrease across Newfoundland of 4.2 cents per litre. But in Labrador, the price fluctuated from between an 11.2 cent per litre decrease to a 2.6 cent per litre increase depending on the region.
The change maximum prices for propane now range between $1.13 and $1.27 per litre in Newfoundland and between 99 cents and $1.24 per litre in Labrador.
