Crews are waiting for poor weather to subside before removing a tractor-trailer that has been blocking a portion of the Trans-Canada Highway since Tuesday morning.

The RCMP sent out a news release shortly before 11 a.m. advising that a tractor-trailer, on its side, was blocking both eastbound lanes of the highway near the Holyrood Access Road.

While attempts were made to move the truck, traffic was diverted through the town of Holyrood.

Around 1 p.m., the Department of Transportation and Works said on Twitter that weather conditions, including high winds, were "preventing the appropriate equipment from safely removing the transport truck."

As of Tuesday afternoon, traffic was being directed around the truck, as winds were too high for a crane to lift it out of the area.
